Counting Sheep Antiques is a multi-dealer antique shop located in the barn of our 1867 farmhouse in the "quaint little hamlet" at 79 Central Street in Berlin, Massachusetts.
Counting Sheep Antiques opened it's doors in May of 1999 after owner Sally (Melanson) Barker and her family moved into a 1867 farmhouse. The shop's location couldn't be any more fitting. It is on Rt. 62 in the pictureque town of Berlin, Massachusetts where the beauty of the country lifestyle is still apparent in the farms and apple orchards that surround it.
The shop is located in a building on the property which is said to have been previously used as both a cobbler's shop and at one time, a chicken coop. The offerings include antiques, collectibles, home decor, hand crafted items and custom florals. You will find many one of a kind necessities to decorate your home and garden.
Sally's interest in antiques began after enrolling in decorative painting classes. She then began a search for aged surfaces to paint on. Sally set up at local craft fairs selling her painted items and primitive cloth dolls. As time went on, she developed a love of the primitive & shabby chic styles.
As a self taught collage and doll artist, Sally currently handcrafts whimsical mixed media collages and cloth dolls using her own designs. Materials such as acrylic and water color paints, stamps, vintage wallcoverings, decoupage, beeswax, scrap book papers, magazine cutouts and various bits and peices of the past are used to give the artworks added dimension. Designs most often include an inspirational word or saying and are perfect for that one of a kind gift.
